Description
Chartwell Green uPVC Casement Window with Top Vent — Bright, Secure and Built to Last
Not every room needs a window that opens along its entire width. Sometimes what you need is a carefully considered balance — enough ventilation to keep the space fresh, enough fixed glazing to keep the room flooded with light, and a frame design that looks intentional rather than compromised. Our Chartwell Green uPVC Casement Window with Top Vent and Fixed Lights delivers exactly that.
This three-light configuration is a practical favourite for living rooms, home offices, ground-floor extensions, and any space where you want a wide, light-filled window without the need for multiple opening casements. The asymmetric layout — active on the left, fixed on the right — gives the design a quiet visual dynamism that distinguishes it from a standard symmetrical casement.
Two Ways to Ventilate, One Seamless Frame
The left-hand section of this window does the ventilation work for the whole frame — and it does it in two distinct ways. The top-hung vent sits at the head of the left section, opening outward from the top to allow warm air to rise and escape at ceiling level. Because it opens from the top rather than the side, it stays rain-resistant even when left open on an overcast day — making it ideal for background ventilation in kitchens, utility rooms, and bedrooms where you want a constant trickle of fresh air without worrying about the weather.
Directly below it, the side-hung casement swings fully open when you need proper, generous ventilation — on warm evenings, after cooking, or simply to let a breeze move through the room. Together, the two opening lights give you precise control over airflow at both high and low levels within the same left-hand section of the frame.
The right-hand fixed pane and the central fixed light require no operation at all — they simply let the light in, keep the weather out, and hold the frame together structurally across its full width.
Outstanding Thermal Performance
Every pane in this double glazed uPVC window is built to the same exacting thermal specification. The 70mm multi-chamber frame, 28mm argon-filled sealed units, soft coat low-E glass, and warm-edge black superspacer bar work in combination to achieve a U-value of just 1.3 W/m²K — placing this window firmly in the A energy rating band and well ahead of Part L Building Regulations requirements.
The multi-chamber frame profile traps still air within its internal cavities, adding meaningful thermal resistance beyond the glass itself. The warm-edge superspacer addresses the weakest point in most double glazed units — the glass edge — by replacing the traditional aluminium spacer bar with a low-conductivity alternative that eliminates the cold strip where condensation typically forms first.
The result is a window that performs consistently across every section, whether glazed or framed.
A Frame That Earns Its Place on Any Home
In Chartwell Green, this asymmetric three-light design has a composed, architectural quality. The fully sculptured 70mm profile creates the kind of shadow lines and moulded depth you’d associate with high-quality painted timber joinery — achieved here without a single drop of paint or a single hour of maintenance. The slim sightlines between the left-hand active section and the right-hand fixed pane keep the overall look clean and unfussy, letting the soft sage green of the frame speak for itself against brick, render or stone.
This is a window that will look as good in fifteen years as it does on the day it’s fitted — because the Chartwell Green finish is integral to the uPVC profile, not painted over it.
Security on Every Opening Light
Both the top-hung vent and the side-hung casement are secured with independent multi-point locking systems and fitted with lockable push-button handles as standard. The fixed panes are retained by internal glazing beads throughout, making it impossible to remove the glass from outside. Patented double-action bubble gaskets run the full perimeter of both opening lights, maintaining a consistent, draught-proof weather seal in all conditions.

The Right Window for Rooms That Need Light First
When the priority is natural light and the ventilation requirement is secondary, this configuration makes more sense than a window full of opening casements. The two generous fixed panes on the right deliver an unobstructed view and a bright, open feel, while the left-hand section handles all the ventilation the room needs — quietly, securely, and without compromise. It’s a thoughtful, efficient design that suits a wide range of room types and property styles, and one of the most practical configurations available in our Chartwell Green uPVC window range.
